Dual Citizens

Under 16 Years of Age

An Israeli citizen holding citizenship from two or more countries whose parents are permanently living in the U.S. and arrived in the U.S before he/she was 16 years old, is recognized as having a Son/Daughter of Emigrant status.

In order to obtain this status, the following are required:

1. Original Israeli passport
2. The original passports of both parents, regardless of nationality
   This is for minors only (citizens uner the age of 18).
3. Registration for an Israeli National Abroad Form - Completed and signed
4. Registration and Personal Request Form for Overseas Personnel for Military Service - Completed and signed
5. Request for Defer Reporting for Military Service Form.- Completed and signed
6. An original letter from the applicant's high school, addressed to the Consulate General of Israel confirming that he or she studied there as a full-time student. The letter should indicate the dates the student has studied there, and when he or she is expected to graduate. A transcript will not be accepted.
7. A copy of a document indicating the citizen has legal status in the U.S.
   i.e.: U.S. passport, resident card, or U.S. visa

Note: A minor must have BOTH parents sign all forms in front of a Consular employee or a notary public.

 

Over 16 Years of Age

Military service is mandatory for Israeli citizens over 16 years of age. Students are entitled to a deferral for the purpose of completing high school.

In order to obtain this status, the following are required:

1. Original Israeli passport
