In his moving and unconventional documentary, director Ran Tal collects more than a dozen of the first-generation kibbutzniks and pairs their reminiscences with the splendidly preserved home movies that track their unique upbringing. Our narrators reveal the agonizing emotional isolation that came with being raised en masse without the attention or affection of their own parents. Sometimes with warmth, sometimes with rancor—but always with wit and candor—Tal and his subjects reflect on a fundamentally different way of life, while also hitting on something at the core of human identity.

April 30 - May 7
The racial and economic dynamics of Israeli society get a chilly shakedown in this Israeli Mean Streets, a raw, rough-hewn look at the no-future world of three soccer playing, not-so-neighborly teens that came out of nowhere to deservedly win the Special Jury Prize at the Jerusalem Film Festival. In a working class neighborhood of southern Israel's Be'er-Sheva, Shlomi, Adiel and Dima come from vastly different worlds. When the three find themselves on the same team, their goals become not only about winning but surviving.

A Touch Away
Record-Breaking TV Series from Israel
April 13 - May 29
Forbidden love blossoms in the Orthodox neighborhood of Bnei Brak, when Zorik, a young, secular Russian immigrant, and his family move in next door to Rochale and her Orthodox family. Rochale is destined for an arranged marriage (shidduch), but she cannot ignore the sparks that fly when Zorik is near. The love that soon buds between the two young neighbors, and the secrets that each family must hide, threaten the familes’ deeply rooted cultural assumptions and challenge individual family members’ beliefs.

Skid Marks
by Shlomit Fundaminsky
Friday, May 30, 7:00 PM
Saturday, May 31, 2:00 PM
Sunday, June 1, 9:30 PM
"Skid Marks" is a story about a couple and the way they choose to live their lives. They live so close to each other; they easily unite into one person, but almost without looking. They are not able to communicate; their world is full of visions, desires, strength, fears and innocence as their only way of existence. Despite all their desires to leave, they box themselves and escape into their imagination. They spend their lives fighting about territory, building walls and borders; ignoring the fact they are sharing an unavoidable fate living side by side.

About Love: Three visual images that evolve quite slowly, almost in a meditative manner: 1) Woman, dressed in black, with a white bowl and baby`s shirt. 2) Woman, dressed in black, with a sweet and baby`s shirt. 3) Woman, dressed in black, with a print of Durer`s painting, "Madonna and Child", and a baby`s shirt..

40X40: This piece is about Time and Memory ; The activity is arranging 36 panels and dissembling them and than arranging them again. Lo: My Life Companion has lost his ability to speak but repeats

"Lo": namely, No! in Hebrew – whenever he wished to express something. Danny, my life companion, is an Army casualty and some how I also find this situation poetic. This performance is about "Poetic License”.

Broken Promised Land
by Shai Kremer
April 3 - May 31
The Robert Koch Gallery presents a selection of large-scale color photographs of Israeli landscape transformed by the military presence. Shai Kremer’s transfixing compositions explore contested territory throughout Israel. Whitney Museum Curator Sylvia Wolf comments that Kremer’s photography is “rich in contradiction and reflects both aggression and vulnerability.” His images mirror the psychological trauma and resulting ambivalence of living in a world of on-going friction. His work has been featured in group and solo exhibitions throughout the United States, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.

The Dead Sea Scrolls
& 5,000 Years of Treasures
February 16 - August 10
9:30 AM - 5:15 PM
This exhibition includes rotating examples of the rare and precious Dead Sea Scroll fragments in addition to artifacts spanning over 5000 years, from the Chalcolithic Age (4,000 BC) to the Fatimid Period (11th century AD). The Dead Sea Scrolls are one of the greatest archaeological discoveries in history. Uncovered by Bedouin herders and excavated by archaeologists in caves along the northwestern shore of the Dead Sea, fragments of the scrolls were pieced together to form more than 800 documents. All of the treasures on view are on loan from the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA), and most have never been seen outside of Israel.
